Hidayat Hussain, is the son of legendary musician Ustad Vilayat Hussain. And he feels that classical music is the purest form of music which he says needs to be promoted well. On the show, he talks of his growing years, of his initiation into music.....of a time when there was a well.....slight turmoil going on in his mind... So, then did he think of taking up a career other than Music.....?? Was there pressure from his legendary father..?? Coming from the fact that his forefathers have been the leaders and innovators of Classical Indian music . His great grandfather, Ustad Imdad Khan, co-developed the Surbahar (bass Sitar). His father, Ustad Vilayat Khan (1928-2004), is attributed with many innovations and contributions, in the instrument as well as the playing of it.
Hidayat Hussain, a name to rekon for himself, performs for benefit conserts too... and a must see and watch would be his performances, coming on April 22nd, which is presented by South Asian Music & Arts Association (SAMAA) and is being held at Carnegie Hall, New York City.... a city he has choosen to live and settle in...Why??
